Message: Mrs. Alice Wolfe Britt, 91, of Ashburton Lane died Thursday, July 17, 2003, at Forsyth Medical Center.
She was born in Georgetown, Ky., to Carrie Sublette Wolfe and Thomas Henry Wolfe on Jan. 25, 1912.
Mrs. Britt was a member of First Presbyterian Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Mangum DeLeon Britt. Survivors include her niece and nephew, Virginia and Dee Britt, of the home; a brother and sister-in-law, Thomas H. and Betty Wolfe; a sister, Katherine Wolfe Ewing, of Louisville,
Ky.; a sister, Susanne Wolfe Calhou, of Cincinnati, Ohio; a sister-in-law, Suzanne Britt, of McClellanville, S.C.; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Britt graduated from the University of Cincinnati with a degree in interior design, where she was a member of Kappa Alpha Theta sorority. During World War II she worked in the State Department in Washington, D.C. She moved to Winston-Salem
in the early 1950s with her husband, M.D. Britt. She volunteered at Old Salem.
A memorial service will be held at a later date. Remembrances may be made to the Forsyth County Humane Society.
