Valentine is pronounced Veltin in German. He served in the Revolutionary War. The family group was compiled from Franklin Co. Marriage Bonds, 1830-50 Census, and early records of Franklin Co. Virginia.
Valentine Oyler was deeded 150 acres of land on Gill's Creek near Benjamin Greer's land, March 2, 1789, by Stephen Taylor and wife, Sarah. Oyler Creek is mentioned in Franklin Co. as early as May 1786, when the court appointed a survey of the road from Shooting Creek to Oyler Creek. The last will and testament of Valentine Oyler, Sr. was probated in Franklin Co. at Rockymount, August 5, 1825. He names wife, Mary M. and 11 children.
