In the 3rd Henry II [1157], Robert de Ros paid 1,000 marks of silver to the king for livery of the lands inherited by his mother from her brother, Walter Espec. This Robert was a munificent benefactor to the Knights Templars. He m. Sybell de Valoines (who, after his decease, m. Ralph de Albini) and dying sometime about the middle of the 12th century, was s. by his son, Everard de Ros, a minor.
