Individual:
Named Comte of Poitou in 839; Duke of Aquitaine about 852-866. He was an adherant of Kings Pepin I and II and the champion of Aquitanian independence from the West Frankish kingdom. Ranulf I was mortally wounded in the Battle of Brissarthe October 9, 866.
