He signed the will with his mark, a large "B".
Benoni's first wife was Hannah Abbott. Her father Thomas Abbott
in his will, December 14, 1718 listed Benoni as my son. It is
assumed from this that Benoni married his daughter, Hannah. It
would also indicate that Benoni was twenty one years old or
older in 1718, thus fixing his birth prior to 1697. He owned a plantation in Greenwich Twp, to which he moved and
lived there until his death in 1770.
Colonial service Vol AAA of Com. at sec. of state
in NJ April 9, 1748 Benoni Dare Captain of Militia. He served
under Colonel Leonard Gibbon.
On September 10, 1730 Benoni purchased 300 acres of land
from Leonard and Nicholas Gibbon. The land is in Stow Twp,
Cumberland County, NJ and is on the Northeast side of the road
from Jericho to Roadstown.
