Much of the Curtiss Family history is to be found @ Curtis-Curtiss.com
The Thomas of Wethersfield line is directly from materials in the private
collection retained by Jane ( Beumont, Holcombe] Curtiss of Simsbury CT
( Actually this is the Ella Barns Ensign collecton )
Dr.Thomas Curtiss (Physician) : was cited in the town records of Southhold L.I. p.238 , tranference of guardianship to John Conklin Jr., Signed.Feb.20 1663. wit. John Conklin Sr.,Richard Curtis, and Thomas Osman. The children of William Salmon from Dr. Thomas Curtiss of Weathersfield Connecticutt husband of Elizabeth Salmon, sister of the late Wm.Salmon The charge of neglectful guardianship was a
transparent move of the trustees. of ,the heirs to retain the large" Crown Land Grants " from the late Wm.
Salmon"s estate and his wife's inheritance. A matter of concern was evident in the charges ???
There is no record of court hearing or proceedings.!!
There are extensive writings on the exact linage of Thomas Curtiss,
All for the most part are purely speculative. Undeniably however
we find he was well known to others of the (Curtis) family at
the time. Though the Wid-Eliz. grp. maintain he is of
unknown origin, we find he is intimately involved in their
affairs at the time an is refered to a a cousin or uncle in
several instances, by these same people. Unfortunately no
certain connections have however been found. Accordingly
Thomas must remain a De-Novo Curtiss Family phenomenon !!
