Related the following story that had been handed down:
Jacob B Ellis and his brother-in-law, John Cooper, came to Webster Co.,
MO via wagon train. Not sure how many others were in the train.
Somewhere in southern Missouri, they had stopped along side of a river.
Shortly after a young boy came running down the hill asking for a
doctor. Dr. Ellis went up the hill with the child. After examining the
family, found they had cholera, sent the boy back to the wagon for his
medicene bag, and to advise all to stay away from the house.
He remained with the sick family for over 2 days. Not known if any
died, but Dr. Ellis sure enough saved some of the family from death.
Conversation and notes 4 Sep 1983.
Jacob B Ellis had 1 brother to Wichita or Coolidge, KS; 2 brothers to
Washington or Idaho.
