'Dunk's Sporting Goods' was opened Feb 26, 1946 at 127 N. Tamarind in C ompton, California. There were three partners in the business, L. D. Duncan, Russell Geer and I. J. 'Woody' Woodworth. I. J. Woodworth bought out Geer in June, 1946 and bought out Duncan in September, 1946. I. J. Woodworth took in Louis D. 'Doc' Stein as a partner in 1948, bought him out in 1951. Horace Williams was a silent partner from 1955 to 1957 or 1958. The business was moved to a store at 259 Compton Blvd. in 1962. I. J. Woodworth sold the store and retired in the fall of 1974.
