I first started researching my family tree, searching for clues to Native American heritage. Then some of my children and grandchildren were interested in my husband's side. The Zabel branch is a mystery. We know that my husband's grandparents, with his grandmother's parents, came to the United States from Russia through Germany. Family history says that the family migrated to Russia from Germany/Poland. Anyway, the family information deadends very quickly.
The Morford line has more information and goes back further than the Zabels. Hopefully, more will be found about the Pettit/Woody branch.
