Individual:
Born in Culpepper county 27 Feb 1768. He married Sarah Proctor
daughter of John Proctor and grand daughter of James Hynt (or Lynt) in
Fayette County, Kentucky, on 26 Sep 1797. She was born on 7 May (or Marc h)
1774. Shadrach Pilcher served in the Black Hawk War and the war of
1812. He died 28 Sep 1831.
Shadrach was in the War of 1812 and received Bounty Land in Illinois whi ch was patented January 7th, Warrant No. 256; Section North 1/2 or 17; Tow nship 6 north 5 west. This land sold to Honorable R.M. Johnson on Janua ry 24th, 1812 - and he then settled east of the Illinois River in Morgan C ounty where the family lived in Jacksonville. Shadrach died on the 9 th of May in 1866 and was buried in Hebron Cemetery. - Source: "The Pilch ers of Culpeper County, Virginia".
(Note: I don't believe this death date to be accurate. It would make h im 98 years old, and the men in this family don't live that long. I ha ve another death date in 1831 which makes more sence. MBS 2/18/04)

years; and it should be noted that no other member of Shadrach's fami ly is known to have been

Note: Shadrack married Sarah Proctor and had eight children. He moved wi th his parents to Kentucky when he was 25 years old. He served in both t he Black Hawk War and the War of 1812, dying in 1831 at the age of sixty s ix in Morgan County, Illinois. He was buried on his farm in Morgan Count y.
