Robert Cormier was the ship's master carpenter at La Rochelle, France. Records indicated that [Marie] Péraude, his wife, and Thomas and Jean,their sons, signed onto the ship "Le Petit Saint-Pierre", to work forthree years at fort Saint-Pierre
at Cap Breton Island, under the orders of the fort commandant Sir Louis Tuffet, for a salary of 120 pounds per year. The contract was drawn upbefore François Moreau, procurator and Martin de Harrabillague, clerk(Arch dép Charente-Maritime,

Ten years later, Thomas Cormier is found in Port-Royal where he married Madeleine Girouard, daughter of François dit Lavaranne Girouard andJeanne Aucoin who married Abt. 1647. Thomas and Marie-Madeleine marriedAbt. 1668 and had ten children.
Thomas and his family become one of the first settlers of Beaubassin. He was born abt 1636 and died before the census of 1693.
His brother Jean was born abt July 1642 and it is unknown what became of him.
