Text: William Fuller was the brother of Elijah, Milus, and (probably) AndrewFuller. He also had tw
o sisters, though I don't know their names. All ofthe evidence points to Alexander Fuller as his father, though I don't knowthe name of his mother. He was born in North Carolina, though I'm not surewhere. They lived in Iredell Co., NC, in the 1810 census, and in BuncombeCo., NC in the 1820 and 1830 censuses. William is not listed by name in1810 or 1820, since only heads of households were listed before 1850, buthe is listed by name in 1830 - living next to several Davis households (hiswife's maiden name was Margaret Davis). You gave a marriage date in yourmessage. Do you know where they were married? I would presume it wasBuncombe Co., though I would like corroboration. Here is what I have:WILLIAM FULLER- Born 26 Nov 1800 in NC- Married 5 Feb 1828 (your data)- Died 3 Oct 1867 in Andrew Co., MO- Buried in Litts Cemetery, Nodaway Co., MOMARGARET DAVIS- Born 22 Sep 1796 in NC- Died 20 Feb 1863 in Andrew Co.,- Buried in Litts Cemetery, Nodaway Co., MOCHILDREN:1. Alexander (born c. 1830)- Married Elizabeth Jane Dwyer on 16 Dec 1866 in Andrew Co., MO2. Susan (born c. 1832)3. Abram (or Abraham) (born c. 1833)4. Elizabeth (born c. 1835)5. Martha J. (born c. 1836)Strangely, I didn't find any of the other children listed in the Andrew Co.marriage register. I know nothing more about the children.I also found William listed in the deed records of Buncombe Co., NC acouple of times. Incidentally, there is STRONG evidence that this Fuller family was at leastpart Cherokee. I have a copy of a Dawes application filed by a son ofAndrew Fuller (whom I believe was William's brother), claiming that AndrewFuller's father was a Cherokee. Buncombe Co., NC, was, of course, a partof the Cherokee nation before the Trail of tears. I have even obtainedvirtual proof that Elijah (William's brother) Fuller's son Riley Fullermarried a full-blooded Cherokee - in Missouri! One distant cousin has evenclaimed to hear a rumor that the Fullers left NC to escape the sort ofpersecution that led to the Trail of Tears episode (which occurred within afew years of their departure from NC). At any rate, write me back and let me know what info you have, now that weknow we're connected. I am especially interested in knowing if you haveheard anything regarding this Cherokee angle.Peter Johnson(602) 375-1208petercj@earthlink.net
