In researching any American family, an attempt must be made to reconcile the apparent information in local records to an objective and practical version that best fits the general historical record as it applies to the growth of this great country. This can be especially difficult in the absence of an independent, impartial and disinterested researcher that shares no specific ties to the family being researched. Every census listing, record or fact available to the researcher, carries with it an inference to be discerned, weighed, judged and recorded accurately and objectively. That I have been successful in this endeavor is merely wishful thinking and, to suggest that this family record is a pristine representation of my ancestry… laughable. However, I am and will remain deeply and profoundly appreciative of the many cousins and family connections that have shared their stories, records, photographs and the innumerable corrections over the years. Of particular note is J David McKenzie, age fourscore and three, who lost most of his family records in Katrina, but still manages to provide immeasurable and valuable assistance. In thanking Mr. McKenzie, I wish to express my deep gratitude to all those that have pushed and pulled me from the less fettered path of "wishful thinking."
