FROM BERRY FAMILY GENEALOGY:

In the winter of 1865, Eve (Bowman) Fogleman, the mother o f Lydia Jane (Fogleman) Ward, brought her children to Charleston, Illinois by train, where they were met by relatives. fourteen-year-old Lydia J. walked with her family beside their wagon of possessions to Cumberland County where they made their home. (Source: 1968 Cumberland County Illinois Sesquicentennial Issue, pg. 759) Obituary - Lydia Jane Fogleman The Greenup Press Mrs. John M. Ward (Obituary) Lydia Jane Fogleman, daughter of John and Eve Fogleman, was born in Guilford County, North Carolina, on December 26, 1851, and departed this life on December 28, 1929, at the age of seventy-eight years. When just a child she came to Illinois with her mother, brothers and sisters. Since that time she spent the remainder of her life near Greenup, Illinois. She was married to John M. Ward on December 25, 1871. To this union were born seven children, Allison Anderson, Charles M. of Greenup, Ill., Belle Trimble of Jewett, Illinois, Dora Holsapple of Greenup, Ill., Mamie Light, John Harrison of Greenup, Ill., and Lena Freeman of Terre Haute, Ind. Her husband and two children, Mamie and Allison, preceded her in death. While yet very young, she was converted and all through her life held to the faith of the United Brethren church. She was a loving mother, a faithful wife, and always tried to live a Christian life. She was of a cheerful disposition and always had a smile for everyone. She bore her illness with patience and often expressed a desire to join her husband who had passed on four years ago. She will be sadly missed, not only by her children, but by her thirty-one grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren, two sisters, one brother, and many other relatives and friends.http://www.gencircles.com/users/jimjan21
