Subject: William Hancher
Dear Mr. Swigart:
I have been researching the Hancher family to try to locate my husband's
grandfather, Francis Slade Hancher. In doing so I found his third cousin who
sent me her research on the family. His family comes from the line of
Nicholas Hancher (b approximately 1766, died 1846 in Hancock Co. IN), son of
John Hancher and Sarah Caudy. Nicholas married a woman named Mary and the
1810-20-30 Census shows him in Frederick Co, VA and them moving to Hancock
County, IN where he lived with a son. Nicholas and Mary also produced a son,
William who married Mary Howe and they had 9 children. The youngest, Newton
William had a son named Francis Slade Hancher. It is Francis Slade Hancher,
called "Slade" by his sisters whom we are tracking.
I would be very interested in any other info you might have about the family.
Thank you for your time.
K. J. Proctor
