Individual:
Migrated with his parents of Summerfield Twp. in 1824. As a child, he and his siblings playe
d with the Indian children and were constantly in their father's store and watched their father's ferry as it crossed the River Raisin.
The family's relations with the Indians were always friendly and his father Richard Peters wa s known to them as "White Chief Peters."
