Text: Conveyed 1721 by Caleb and Mary Tuttle of right in estate of our father Samuel
Hotchkiss of East Haven to Bro. Samuel Hotchkiss.
Caleb was prominent in the first secession from the First Society, a movement
which resulted in the face of a powerful opposition in the organization of the
Second Ecclesiastical Society employed John Curtis to preach, Caleb Tuttle and
wife and David Punderson and wife, Thankful, conveyed a half acre and 17 rods,
fronting 100 feet on Elm St., for a parsonage lot. Mrs. Hannah, 2nd wife died
Oct 27, 1748 in her 65th year. Caleb died 1751, intestate, and court appointed
son, Enos administrator; invoice 193 pounds; mentions 4 acres in Yorkshire
Quarters.
