Individual:
Justice of the Peace
Mike shot and killed two men. One was James Flem Chambers, his cousin. The story was that Mike caught Flem cutting down trees on his property. He told Flem he was going to get his gun, and if he was still there when he got back, he was going to shoot him. Mike returned with his gun, and did shoot and kill Flem. During the later years of his life, Mike visited Flem's grave every day.
The second shooting happened when a man killed Mike's best hunting dog.
Mike was a Baptist Minister. The family attended church every Sunday. There were many small churches, but not enough pastors. Each Sunday of the month they would attend services at a different church.
Mike was elected Justice of the Peace in District # 5 on August 1, 1918. He was commissioned on August 24, 1918.
