Samuel Fountain Barksdale Stockard, M.D., was in medical school in 1861, when the school en listed in a body in the Confederate Army, forming the 1st Tenn. "Kid Gloves" Regiment, of which Rev. Ireland, later Bishop of Nashville, was Chaplain. He married Lucy Hawkins Williams (1 853-1903) and they had seven children.
