Bob Sterne

BEATTYs of Albion Twp. Ontario

George BEATTY (1794-1875) was born in County Fermanagh, Ireland and immigrated to Canada about 1830. He married Elenor Ann "Ellen" BEATTY (ca1810-ca1867) in Albion Twp. Peel Co. Ontario in 1833. They had nine children, two of whom, Matthew and George founded the famous farm equipment firm "Beatty Brothers" of Fergus, Ontario in 1874. These two brothers married RUTHERFORD sisters, Catherine and Martha respectively, who were part of the large family of James RUTHERFORD (1817-1888) and Rebecca STEWART (1822-1874) who also settled in Albion Twp.

Beatty Brothers hosted a large RUTHERFORD/STEWART Reunion in 1949 in conjunction with their 75th Anniversary, and a copy of the Invitation List is online. I am a member of the Beatty Project 2000 and this family is listed on their website as Lineage #403.
