DILLs of County Donegal, Ireland
The DILL family of Co. Donegal is well documented. The source of much of this information is a detailed family history prepared between 1910 and 1931 by Rev. William James YOUNG of Milford, with the assistance of Rev. William John McCONNELL of Dublin. The original purpose of this manuscript was to document eligiblity for the DILL BURSARY. Rev. Richard DILL of Dublin was instrumental in the founding of Magee College in Londonderry and left a bursary which could be claimed by students who could show a relationship to him. Magee College is now a part of the University of Ulster. The YOUNG-McCONNELL manuscripts were copied by Albert RUTHERFORD in 1968 (who made some corrections and additions) and have been transcribed for this website with more additions by Bob STERNE.
