Individual:
A handwritten note in the materials for the McGrew Autobiography by Haze
l Tuttle McGrew says he died three months before his son was born. His wife is listed as a widow in the Elyria City 1885 directory. There is not a burial or death record in Lorain Co. Other evidence, a picture taken of Harold in St. Paul, and the name of the daughter Elenora, suggests relatives/parents? being John L. and Elenora Lippy in St. Paul,Ramsey Co., Minnesota, and that as a possible death and burial site.( see also 1870 census as Jno. L and Elenor LIPPEY: Baltimore Ward 9, Baltimore (Independent City; see 1860 census as J.L. LEPPY in Stewartstown, York, Pennsylvania; )
Rev. Henry Elliott is also in St. Paul in 1880. Could she have been vis iting him as well????
See notes in marriage memo. This researcher believes that instead o f a death, there was a divorce and that Charles later married an Emma and lived in 1930; Census Place: Roosevelt, Snohomish, Washington; Roll: 2520; Page: 2B; Enumeration District: 113
Marriage:
Research has never revealed how or where she met Charles H. Lippy or wha
t became of him. A picture taken of their son, Harold, in St. Paul, MN in 1890 suggests they may have had some relations in that area. They had a daughter named Eleanora. The 1880 census reveals a John Lippy and wife Elenora living in St. Paul. No other research has been done regarding a possible burial for Charles in this location. This line of the family died out with the deaths of both Lippy children without issue.
I believe this marriage may have ended in divorce between 1889-1895, with Kit calling herself a widow, instead. See 1910 Fed census SCHOOL DIST 23, Sweet grass, Montana Series: T624 Roll: 835 Part: 2 Page: 287B Year: 1910. Charles H. Lippy with wife Emma. Other ancestry.com lineages indicate he married an Emma c. 1895 and lived past 1930.
I believe it is the same Chas. Lippy. There may be a divorce record on file in Ramsey Co., MN. Possibly in Elyria, OH, but then it would have been difficult for her to go by widow title.
