!BIRTH DATE/PLACE, PARENTS: Federal Census; 1850; Greene County, Virginia; page 360 ("Cremorah"). !MARRIAGE: Marriage Record No. 1; Clerk's Office; Greene County, Virginia; page 3 (in abstract from another researcher). !In the obituary of one of their children, Cremorah and her husband were described as being "of Albemarle County" (From the Greene County Record, May 9, 1935 [transcription from another researcher]: "Mrs. Minnie Lee Shiflett, wife of Wesley A. Shiflett, of Stony Point, died May 2, 1935, at the Martha Jefferson hospital, Charlottesville. Mrs. Shiflett was Miss Minnie L. Slaughter, daughter of the late James and Comora (Estes) Slaughter of Albemarle County and was 58 years old. Besides her husband she is survived by five children, one daughter and four sons, Mrs. F. T. Baugh of Charlottesville; James E. Shiflett of Stony Point; Nat S. Shiflett of Charlottesville, Wesley Lee and Beltran D. Shiflett, of Stony Point. Mrs. Shiflett also leaves one sister, Mrs. Mary Taylor, of McMullan and two brothers, Battle Slaughter of Keyser, W. Va. and Hiram Slaughter of Stanardsville. The funeral was held at Preddy's Creek Baptist church, the service conducted by Rev. Edwin S. Sweeney. Burial was in the church cemetery."). | ||||||||||||||||||||||
