Bequeaths to son Tandy Suddarth "all my lands whereon I live containing by information one hundred forty acres be the same more or less and bounded by the lands of Mask Leak George Drumheller, John Wilkerson Benjamin Johnson Elisha Melton and Nicholas Rittenhouse." Also, deed from Laurence Suddarth and Martha his wife of Amherst County to James Suddarth of Albemarle County, 100 acres "on the south branch of hardway," "being part of three hundred acres Granted by deed to William Suddarth Senr. ... by Abraham Venable as may be and more fully and at Large appear by the said Venables Patent for the said Land... being part of the Three hundred acres above named it being the old plantation while the said William Suddarth deceased Lived ... & also all the Estate Right title Interest Claim and demand and whatsoever of him the said Laurence Suddarth of in the same premises and of in and to every part and parcel thereof," for 45 pounds. Executed and recorded April 14, 1768. Witnesses Absalom McKenzie, Milley Suddarth. (Albemarle County Virginia, Deed Book 4, page 493.) !FATHER: Will of William Sudarth; Amherst County, Virginia; Will Book 1; page 4 (refers to him as "Larnce Sudarth"; many other words are misspelled, including "Perfekt" for Perfect, "in primas" for Imprimis, "Itam" for Item, and "Starling" for Sterling). That this is the same Lawrence Suddarth is confirmed by the deed quoted above -- both in the provenance of the land conveyed, and in the fact that it says Lawrence Suddarth was "of Amherst County" in 1768. Also, the will of William Suddarth gives another son's name as James -- apparently the grantee in the above-quoted deed. !Lawrence is also mentioned in the will of his grandfather, James Sudduth, father of William Sudduth: "Item I leave to my loving wife Mary during her life or widowhood all my Estate & effects whosoever not above mentioned and in case of her dying I leave all to my Grandson Lawrence Sudduth with directions that it may be apprais'd or turn'd into money for him until he comes of age to be delivered to him at that time." (Stafford County, Virginia, Deed Book [Wills] Liber O, page 240; as transcribed in Virginia County Court Records: Stafford County, Virginia Will Book (Liber 0); by Ruth and Sam Sparacio; page 51.) | ||||||||||||||||||||||||
