| Malinda Louisa Wade |
!BIRTH PLACE (Virginia), MOTHER: Federal Census; 1870; Albemarle County, Virginia; page 448 ("Louisa" Wade, age 17, in home of Spicie Wade). That this is the same person as the Malinda E. Wade, age 8, in the home of Samuel and Spicy Wade in 1860 (Nelson Co., Va., p. 841) is shown by the death record of Loula Critzer, wife of Alex Critzer ("Loula" probably being a nickname for Louisa), and by the marriage record of Alexander Critzer and Malinda L. Wade (the middle initial "L" apparently standing for "Louisa"). Both of these records are referenced below. !BIRTH PLACE (Albemarle Co.), SPOUSE, DEATH DATE/PLACE: Register of Deaths; Albemarle County, Virginia (as abstracted in Death Records Indexing Project, at http://eagle.vsla.edu/drip/). "Loula" Critzer, age 37, daughter of Sam and Spicy Wade, died in Albemarle County January 15, 1890. Informant: Alex Critzer, husband. !MARRIAGE: Marriage License, Certificate to Obtain a Marriage License, and Minister's Return of Marriage; Clerk's Office; Albemarle County, Virginia. Alexander Critzer, age 21, and Malinda L. Wade, age 18, daughter of Samuel and Spicey Wade. Both born in Albemarle County. Malinda's age is apparently an exaggeration; based on the 1880 census (see below) and the birth date of her nextt oldest sibling (see notes under Joseph Wade). !BIRTH DATE: Federal Census; 1880; Albemarle County, Virginia; page 172B ("Lula Critzer," age 26, in the home of Alexander Critzer, age 29). !The personal recollection of Nathaniel Smith Wade, son of Jerry F. WADE, was that his Aunt "Nettie" WADE's husband was "Alec" Critzer. According to the death register and the 1880 census, however, Alex Critzer was married to Nettie's older sister, Louisa. See note under Nettie Wade. | ||||||||||||||||||||||
