Rockingham County, Virginia (page 80).

Death date is based on his absence from the family in the 1860 census,
and the fact that the family includes a two-year old child (Shenandoah
County, Virginia, page 531). Levi is not listed in the Shenandoah County
Death Register during 1856-1861 (but he is listed as the informant for
the death of his daughter, Mary, on Feb. 8, 1856).
FATHER: Estate settlement of Henry WALTER, Jr.; Shenandoah County,
Virginia; Will Book S, page 454. That Levi Walter, son of Henry Walter Jr.,
is my Levi Walter is indicated by the following facts:
(1) My Levi Walter lived in Shenandoah County in 1850 (Federal Census,
page 109), and he died there about 1859 (see note above).
(2) Per the above-cited estate settlement, Henry Walter Jr. died about
1816, and it refers to the guardian of Henry's children. Since my Levi was
born about 1809, he would have needed a guardian in 1816.
(3) In 1805, Henry Walter Jr. received, from the children of Christian
Haltiman, 76 acres in "Powels big fort" in Shenandoah County, which
had been "granted to Christian Haltiman ... by Patent the 4th Oct.
1800" (Shenandoah Co. DB O:454). In 1835, my Levi C. Walter and his
wife, Sarah, were the grantors of "one equal undivided fourth" of a tract
of 76 acres that the Governor had conveyed to Christian Haltiman
(Shenandoah Co. DB RR:61). Per the above-cited estate settlement,
Henry Walter Jr. had four heirs.
