was more than one tithable in the household of William McCloud,
Charles's father. Therefore, Charles, who, according to later census
records, was the oldest child, turned 17 in 1803. (Federal Census; 1850;
Madison County, Virginia; page 76B, says Charles was 61; therefore
born about 1789. Federal Census; 1840; Greene County; Virginia; page
431, says Charles was 50-60; Federal Census; 1830; Orange County,
Virginia; page 317, says Charles was 40-50.).
