Notes
Individual:
!Since at least one of Jarrot's children (i.e., Cebitha) was born about

27 years after his marriage to Sally Hensley, one or more of his children
were apparently borne by a different (later) wife.

!BIRTH DATE: Federal Census; 1810; Albemarle County, Virginia;
page 14A (Jarrott Suddarth); and Federal Census; 1840; Albemarle
County, Virginia; page 157 (Jarrett Suddarth). According to the
1810 census, he was age 45 or over (therefore, born about 1765 or
earlier). According to the 1840 census, he was age 70-80 (therefore,
born between 1760 and 1770). These two records of Jarrot's age
intersect at 1760-1765, and my estimate is near the middle of that
five-year period. In the 1830 census, Jarritt Suddarth's age is given
as 50-60 (Albemarle County, page 284). This is apparently in error,
since it conflicts with both the 1810 census and the 1840 census,
which agree with each other. I have been unable to find Jarrot in
the 1820 census. (See below for complete abstracts of this family
in the census records.)

!BIRTH PLACE: See note under Lawrence Suddarth, re: deed from
Laurence Suddarth and Martha his wife of Amherst County, executed
1768.

!MIDDLE INITIAL: Deed from Jaret A. Sudderth to "my daughters"
Martha, Elizabeth, and Mary Sudderth; Albemarle County, Virginia;
Deed Book 41; page 88 (conveying certain personal property,
"reserving however the full use and benefit of the property
aforesaid, to the said Jaret Sudderth during his natural life").

!FATHER: Will of Lawrence Suddarth; Albemarle County, Virginia;
Will Book 6; page 77.

!MARRIAGE (Sally Hensley): Albemarle County Marriages, 1780-
1853; by John Vogt & T. William Kethley, Jr.; vol. I; page 302.
Bondsman was Samuel Hensley.

!One Jarrott "Suddeath" (probably a transcription error for
"Sudderth"), "bachelor," was married to Meney Puckett, "spinster,"
daughter of Jacob Pucket, in Amherst County, Virginia, on August 27,
1790 (Marriage Bonds and Other Marriage Records of Amherst County,
Virginia, 1763-1800; by William Montgomery Sweeny; page 73).
That this may be the same Jarrot Suddarth is suggested by the facts
that my Jarrot was born in Amherst County, and that he was about
32 years old when he married Sally Hensley. On the other hand, the
fact that Jarrot's household in the 1810 census included no children
over age 15 (see below) suggests the contrary.

!Jarrot Sudderth was bondsman for the marriage of Nancy Suddarth
and John Gray in Albemarle County, Virginia, on December 24, 1822
(Albemarle County Marriages, 1780-1853; by John Vogt & T. William
Kethley, Jr.; vol. I; page 302).

!The following entry, dated Mar. 2, 1813, appears in Albemarle
County (Virginia) Order Book 1811-1813, at page 416 (as
transcribed in Albemarle County Road Orders 1783-1816; by
Nathaniel Mason Pawlett (Dec. 1975, revised Apr. 2004); page 207;
published by the Virginia Transportation Research Council; available
on-line at http://www.virginiadot.org/vtrc/main/index_main.htm):
"It is ordered by the court that Wm. Harris be appointed Surveyor
of the road from opposite Rice Smiths Schoolhouse to the forks of
the road above Tandy Keys and with the hands of Lewis Roberson
Tandy Suddarth, Jarrott Suddarth, Leonard Drumheller Tandy Key
Nehemiah Hunley, Lewis Hunley, and Mrs. Harris to keep the same in
Good repair."

!This is NOT the same Jarrot Suddarth who served in the Revolutionary
War and later moved to Georgia. That Jarrot Suddarth's pension
application file says that he moved from Virginia to Georgia in 1790,
whereas my Jarrot Suddarth was still living in Virginia well after that
time (National Archives; Washington, D.C.; Revolutionary War Pension
Application Files; Jared Suddarth; S.32,001).
