("Martin, George, bachelor, and Sarah Fox, spinster, May 17, 1788.
Samuel Fox, surety. Consent of his father, Sherod Martin. Consent of
her father, Samuel Fox.") That this is the same George Martin who
married Sally Henderson in 1794 (see note under Sally) is shown by the
following facts:
(1) The will of Samuel Fox (Nelson Co., Virginia, WB A, page 5),
executed May 18, 1808, includes this statement: "It is my will and desire
that George Martin, who intermarried with my daughter Sally (who is since
dead) should have no part of my estate but what has already and long
since been given her."
(2) On August 5, 1808, George Martin & Sally his wife conveyed to
Nathaniel Harlow land "which was devised to the said Geo Martin by the
last will & Testament of his father Sherod Martin decd." (Nelson Co. DB
1:17). Thus, George had remarried, and his second wife's name was Sally.
(3) Another son of Sherod Martin, Elisha, married a sister of Sally
Henderson (see note under Barbara Henderson and Elisha Martin).
!Birth date is based entirely on the assumption that his first marraige
occurred at about 25 years of age.
