Notes
Individual:
!Birth date is based entirely on the assumption that he married at

about 25 years of age. I have been unable to find this couple in the
1850 census.

!FATHER, DEATH DATE: Will of Sherod Martin; Amherst County, Virginia;
Will Book 4; page 147. The will refers to "our son Elisha's children or child"
and to "Reuben Martin son of Elisha Martin." In 1818 and 1819, bonds
were executed for the guardianships of Celia Martin, daughter of Elisha
Martin, and for Reuben H. Martin, son of Elisha Martin (Guardians' Bonds
of Albemarle County, Virginia, 1783-1852; by Mary Catharine Murphy;
pages 61, __). The bondsman for the Celia Martin guardianship was
William H. Martin, brother-in-law of my Elisha Martin. (These guardian-
ships were executed on the same dates as the marriages of Celia and
Reuben. See notes under their names.)
