!DEATH DATE: Personal property tax list; 1807; Albemarle County,
Virginia. John's entry for this year says "John Henderson S Son est" --
i.e., John Henderson, Shadrack's son, estate." The lists for 1801-1806
included entries for "John Henderson Son of Shadrack" (or some
abbreviation of Shadrack). The fact that John, son of Shadrack, died
between 1803 and 1810 is also reflected in the following facts:
(1) He married Susanna KIRBY in 1803 (see note under Susanna).
(2) His father's will (see above) indicates that he had died by 1810.
(3) Susanna executed a deed without John later in 1810 (Albemarle
County, Virginia; Deed Book 17; page 396).

Although the will of Shadrack Henderson calls John a son of Shadrack,
he may have been Shadrack's stepson instead.
!BIRTH DATE: Personal property tax lists; 1794-1806; Albemarle
County, Virginia. Shadrack Henderson's second son turned 16 in
1794 (see note under Joseph, the first son). That this son was John
is shown by the fact that John had his own separate entry in the tax
lists beginning in 1801 (designated as "Son of Shadr."), while the third
