Individual:
!SPOUSE: Albemarle County Deed Book 15, page 223 (John Kirby
and Susana his wife to James Kirby, all of Albemarle County. For
¹20, sixty acres in Albemarle County, on the south side of Buck
Island Creek. Executed Oct. 20, 1805).
!The name of one "John Kearby" appears on the "Declaration of
Independence" of certain citizens of Albemarle County, dated June 21,
1779. The names appear to have been written by a clerk, however,
rather than being actual signatures. An image of this document is on
"The Goodman Family" web site, at
http://www.bcpl.net/%7Edmg/albemarle.htm. My transcription is
posted on my Web site, at
http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~vagenealogy/declaration.txt
!John Kirby's family may have resided in Hanover County, Virginia, before
Albemarle County; his son, William Kirby, enlisted in the Revolutionary War
in 1779 while living in Hanover County (see note under William Kirby).
!DEATH DATE: Library of Virginia, Land Tax Records, Reel 7, Albemarle
County, 1799-1814A. John Kirby (or Kerby) is included in the lists for 1799
through 1805, but not thereafter. Additionally, the following evidence
indicates that John died between 1805 and 1810:
(1) Albemarle County Deed Book 15, page 223 (John Kirby
and Susana his wife to James Kirby, all of Albemarle County. For
20 pounds, sixty acres in Albemarle County, on the south side of Buck
Island Creek. Executed Oct. 20, 1805).
(2) Albemarle County, Virginia; Deed Book 17; page 396 (certain heirs
of John Kerby decd. relinquish their right to land which said John
conveyed to a third party) (executed 28 Dec. 1810).
