Individual:
!BIRTH DATE/PLACE: Federal Census; 1850; Albemarle County,
Virginia; page 251 (in the home of Flemming and Adeline "Elliton,"
daughter and son-in-law of Mary's brother, Thomas).
!BROTHER (Thomas): "The People of Batesville, Virginia in 1832
from a Cobbler's Accounting Ledger," by Willard E. Stone, The
Magazine of Albemarle County History, vol. 32 (1974), pages 39-53.
This article includes an entry for Thomas Tomblin, saying that he
purchased shoes for his sister Mary and Mary's daughter. Since the
1830 census has only one Thomas Tomlin/Tomblin in the area of
Albemarle County (page 291), I believe this is my Thomas. (Despite
the title, the body of this article explains that the cobbler's records
are from 1832-1836.)
!MOTHER, MIDDLE NAME: Estate account of Susanna Tomblin;
Albemarle County, Virginia; Will Book 11; page 481. Thomas Tomblin
and Mary Ann Tomblin are mentioned as "two of the distributees."
