The Davison Family
The Davison family of Falmouth, N.S. was founded by John(4) Davison(1708-1799) son of Thomas( 3) Davison (1668-1724) and Hannah Tracey of Preston, Conn. John(4) Davison was a grantee at Falmouth, N.S. at the founding of the Township in 1760. Thomas(3) Davison(1668-1724) son of Daniel Davison(1630-1693) and Margaret Low of Ipswich, Mass. owned extensive lands at Preston, Conn. and "held, at various times, nearly every office in the gift of his Townsmen".
Nicholas(1) Davison, the immigrant ancestor to America was born in 1611 at Lynn, England. H e came to America about 1630 and returned to England shortly afterwards. He returned to America in 1656 on the "Speedwell".
There were other Davison grantees at Falmouth but they moved to other sections of the provinc e shortly after receiving their grants. Jonathan, Cylprian, Samuel Davison and Mrs. Keziah (Davison) Randall were part of the family of Jonathan Davison(1697-1751/52) of Preston, Conn. and all received grants at Falmouth. Johnathan probably moved to Cumberland County, N.S. ; Cyprian settled in Kings County,N.S. and Keziah Davison, wife of David Randall, grantee at Falmouth also settled in Kings County, N.S.
Data on the New England family will be included in this summary in an attempt to clarify th e relationship between the various members of the Davison Family.
