Text: TIIOMAS RANNEY II. was born March 14, 1661, married Rebecca Willett, of Hartford, March 29, 1691. Farmer, removed in 1710 across the river and settled in Chatham; He and his wife were original members of the church organized in the North Sooiety", on Jan. 5, 1714/5. his homestead was on the right-nand side of the road leading to the "Berlin quarters," beginning at "Wilcox Brook", being part of the land bought in 1686 from the estate of John Crowe by Thomas Ranney Sr., and given to him by his father's will, according to the custom of that day, though he undoubtly had built on it at the time of his marriage, "the lot on which his house stands as it is now divided", besides various other meadows, timber lands and swamp lands. He with two brothers were executors of his fathers will.
He died Feb. 6, 1727, and has a gravestone.
His widow Rebecca married second, Jacob White, III. on Dec. 16, 1729.
