4 miles west of Mary's River Benjamin Crane settled in Sec 24 in 1802. This sons were: Benjamin, Squire, William, James, Joel, Lewis and John. John lived at Crane's Island in the Mississippi River until he died in 1850. This land was sold off to Cuthbert S Crain who must be a son. Other documents I have filed.

Benjamin had entries in the Morrison's Store Book in 1811-1813-1814-1815-1818-1819 Estate papers signed Mar 18 1829. Benjamin was also given 10.00 from Joel's account at Morrison's Store on April 1, 1812.
Benjamin has no females in the 1825 Randolph County census, Jenny died or left before 1825.

Marriage license states Sarah Grosvenor - widow - she was the wife of Parker Grosvenor
Illinois Public Land Sale page shows E2SW sold to Lucius Green 10/5/1843 as a federal land sale, this was half of Benjamin's purchase in 1814. Not on BLM site, 1845 pay slip of entire SW section in Cuthbert's estate. This sale is not correct according to the BLM.
Slave Records and Freedom Papers, Randolph County Illinois
Agnes, age 13 years next Christmas, black, female, was entered on 09 Dec 1809, by Benjamin Crain, removed from Tennessee, to serve until 32 years old. Tuesday, 18 Aug 1829, Agnes, a woman of color, stated she was brought into Randolph County from Tennessee by Benjamin Crain in November or December of 1808 and owing him service, was registered to serve him until 25 Dec 1828. She claimed she had served her time and was entitled to a certificate of her freedom and requested the court give her the same and also in behalf of her children, which she had during the time she was bound by Crain. Certificate was awarded to her according to law (Circuit Court Book A pp 387-388)

Whereas Benjamin Crain, Late of Randolph County, deceased, died intestate, as it is said; we do, therefore, give and grant unto you the said John Crain full power and authority to administer all and singular the goods & chattels, rights and credits which were of the said Benjamin Crain, deceased, whereever the same may be found, and to demand, collect, levy and in a legal manner require and re- ceive all and all manner of debs due and owing to said de- ceased, and well and faithfully to dispose of the same accor- ding to law. And we do hereby constitute and appoint you the said John Crain administrator of all and singular the good and chattels, rights and credits of the said Benjamin Crain deceased. Witness David J. Bemjamin is not in the 1807 census of the Indiana Territory, Randolph County. His arrival in Illinois is supported by his slave, Agnes who states they moved to Illinois in November or December of 1808
