Winifred Laura Adams, daughter of Frank and Emma Kessler, was born April 30, 1892 at Dunlap, Iowa. She resided in Dunlap until her marriage. After marriage she and her husband made their home in the Ute, Charter Oak and Smithland communities. She has resided in Smithland for the last 8 years of her life. She was married to Rudolph J. Adams at Charter Oak in 1914* This union was blessed with 2 daughters and 5 sons. She departed life on Sunday, December 5, 1954 at her home in Smithland. She had reached an age of 62 years, 7 months and 5 days.
She is survived by her husband; 2 daughters: Mrs. Willard (Regina) Olsen, Galva, Iowa, Mrs. Vinton (Rose Mary) Sharp, Dow City, Iowa; 5 sons: Clarence, Charter Oak, Frank, Ute, Wayne, Charter Oak, Paul, U.S. Navy, Vincent, Kingsley; 21 grandchildren; 1 brother, Raymond Kessler, Denver Colorado; 2 sisters: Minnie Reithmier, Denver Colorado, Mrs. Jennie Fischer, Chicago, Illinois. She also leaves a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held on Thursday, December 9, 1954 at 9:30 A.M. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Oto. Father Thomas J. Lawless officiated. Rosary was recited Tuesday and Wednesday 8:00 P.M. at the Byers-Walter Funeral Chapel in Mapleton. Burial was made in the St. Boniface Cemetery at Charter Oak.
