William Grosvenor was minister at Brookfield, Mass. from 24 Oct 1705 to 25 Aug 1708, then he moved to Charleston, Charleston, South Carolina. He was educated at Harvard (B.A. 1693 (H.C., A.B., A.M.), and his will was dated 5 Nov 1702; William was baptized by the famous Rev. John Eliot. Frederick Lewis Weis, The Colonial Clergy and the Colonial Churches of New England, p.98: "William Grosvenor, A.M., b. Roxbury, Jan 8. 1672/3, son of John Grosvenor and Esther (Clarke) Grosvenor; H.C., 1693; A.B., A.M.; called to Brookfield, Oct 24, 1705; settled Brookfield, 1705-1708; dismissed Aug. 25, 1708; settled Charleston, S. C.; d. 1733". "Folklore and Firesides of Pomfret, Hampton and Vicinity" by Susan Jewett Griggs (1950) p.30 Esther Grosvenor's oldest son, William, was graduated from Harvard in 1693, was a minister in Brookfield, Mass. and later went to Charleston, S.C. Her other sons, all in early manhood became leading citizens of Pomfret. Because of Indian attacks the town was unable to support a minister.(Bowen). Williams will was probated, July 26, 1721, and is in the Procession of the North Carolina Historical Commission at Raleigh, North Carolina, and named his wife Sarah as his executrix.
