Obituary
Emma A. Stiles daughter of Sabinias and Mary Ann Stiles was born in So;on, Johnson County Iowa September 1862. She lived their until she was married to Frank A Kessler on January 1, 1883. The came at once to their farm on the Willow where they resided nine years and then moved to a farm near Dunlap where Mr. Kessler died in January 1897.
Mrs. Kessler was in poor health for several months before her death, August 10, 1916. She 53 years, 10 months and 23 days old. There were born into this home five children, three daughters and two sons. Four are living: Mrs. Geo Rethmeier, Mrs Rudolph Adams of Charter Oak, and Miss Jennie and Raymond Kessler, Leslie having died when seven years of age. Mrs. Kessler leaves to mourn there loss three daughters, one son, her mother, three sisters and three brothers and many friends. She was a member of the Congregational Church and an earnest Christian woman.
She was a kind and loving mother, a faithful wife, a good neighbor and always a friend in time of need. All who have known her will miss her kindly face. She has heard the words of the King: "Come, ye blesses of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world."
Funeral was held from the M.E. Church Saturday at 2:30, conducted by Rev. Conrad. Interment was made in Fairview Cemetery (Valley View Cemetery) west of town.
