Source Text: According to the source, "JAMES GILMORE {should be GILMOUR} CRAWFORD was bor 12 February 1850 at La Harpe, Hancock County, Illinois, the son of Dr. G. F. CRAWFORD (born 1 January 1818, Grayson County, Virginia; died Oregon) and MARY ELLEN {GILMORE} CRAWFORD (born Kentucky; died Oregon). He came with his family overland in 1852, settling at Lebanon, Linn County. He became a well known photographer, practicing at various times in Albany, Eugene, Lebanon, Portland and Harrisburg. In later years he had agencies in Portland and San Francisco, as well as his home studio in Albany, Oregon. He died in Albany 5 January 1929 and is buried there at Riverside Cemetery."

Source Text: This biographical sketch was provided by Vivian Lee and Theodore Morris:
"J. G. CRAWFORD 1850 - 1929. A well known pioneer came to Oregon with his parents in 1852. Was a pioneer photographer who had studios in Harrisburg and Albany. CRAWFORD and PAXTON were among the first photographers here. Was also an amateur geologist and anthropologist and collected a large mass of skulls, artificents etc. from the Indian mounds along the Caloopia River (Now in the museum at O.S.U). CLARA CRAWFORD. 1852 - 1936. Wife of last. A member of the Lebanon Pioneer MOIST family.
CAREY CRAWFORD, Son of the last two, drowned at Corvallis by falling from the gangway of a steamboat while playing in the band for an excursion. His body was not found until a subsequent high water when it floated into the basement of a house being built by his father on the riverbank at Albany."
