Individual:
Born Professional Center Hospital. Attended first grade at Rooks School,
second thru fifth grades at Goode St. School. Moved from first home, 243
Columbia Ave., in 1959 to 3100 Cleveland Ave. Attended sixth thru twelfth
grades at the Montgomery Academy, one of its original students when it opened
in the fall of 1959, and graduating in its first graduating class on 05 June
1966. Attended the Université de Rennes à St. Malo (France) in the summer of
1966 and entered Harvard College that fall. Worked for Johnson & Williams
architects as a draftsman in 1968, before returning to Harvard. Married in
February 1969 and transferred to Auburn University, graduating in 1972 with a
B.A. (major: English minor: French). Lived 1971-72 in Albany, GA, then was
hired in the Montgomery Public Schools. Taught sixth grade at Flowers
Elementary 1972-73, English and French at Carver High School 1973-78. Earned
M.A. in English in 1978 (later earned AA certification in both English and
French). Taught English and French at Lanier High School beginning in the fall of 1978. Did graduate work in French at the Université de Québec à Chicoutimi in the summer of 1986. Retired after 27 years of teaching in the Montgomery Public Schools on 4 June 1999. Worked as a regular substitute at LAMP HS from 1999 through 2002. Underwent quadruple coronary bypass surgery 2 October 2001 at Baptist Hospital South in Montgomery. Began teaching French at Huntingdon College in Montgomery in August 2002.
