Hamilton Child's "Gazetteer of Jefferson County, N.Y.", published in 1890
Thomas Hastings came from Massachussetts and located in the town of
Champion in 1808. In 1816 he located on the farm on road 45, in this town,
where his son Joseph now lives. He had born to him 10 children,- five sons and
five daughters,- only one of whom, Joseph, is living. Joseph married Rachel Van
Antwerp, by whom he had eight children, seven of whom are living.
