Individual:
Daniel Trowbridge Sr. lived in Bridgewater, Connecticut for a little over three years after his marriage to Annis Northrop. In 1812 he emigrated to Portage County, Ohio and settled on a farm in Palmyra. Three years later he went to Connecticut to visit his parents and brought them back to Ohio with him. On October 1823 he was commissioned Captain of the 9th Company, 1st Regiment of the Ohio Militia. Indian troubles were going on. After living in Palmyra about 12 years he moved to Edinburg in the same county. He was one of the first trustees of Edinburg Township and held the office of Justice of the Peace for 18 years. In 1850, in company with his four younger sons, he emigrated to Berrien County, MI which at that time was a wilderness area. They settled in the present township of Pipestone, where they cleared ground and engaged in farming and stock raising. Daniel remained there the rest of his life. He was highly respected in various committees with which he had been identified.
