This surname in north Dorset can be rendered in many ways: EARS, EYERS , EYRES, EYEARS, AYERS , ERYS , AYRS etc. This file represents a very hypothetical attempt to sort out the families. Note that BMDs are often recorded in neighbouring parishes : congregations were small and the churches often without resident vicars.The families were nearly all involved in dairy farming as labourers or similar.
