FRANCIS ALBERT4 ADAMS (Rudolph3, Gustav2, Albert1) was born on 29 Mar 1919 at Denison, Crawford Co., IA. He married Verna Burdette Malcom, daughter of Irvin Howard Malcom and Roxie Viola Lyons, on 17 Jun 1939 at Danbury, Woodbury Co., IA. He died on 6 Dec 1985 at Omaha, Douglas Co., NE, at age 66; Died of a rare form of liver cancer. He was buried on 10 Dec 1985 at St. Boniface Catholic Cemetery, Charter Oak, Crawford Co., IA.
He was a Maintainer driver for Crawford County. He ran a bar called Frank's Place in the 1950's. He was Mayor of Arion, Crawford Co., IA for 9 years. He was member of the Booster Club there. (The Booster Club helped raise money for things the community needed).
VERNA BURDETTE MALCOM was born on 1 Jun 1919 at Northwest of town., Climbing Hill, Woodbury Co., IA. She died on 12 Dec 1997 at Omaha, Douglas Co., NE, at age 78. She was buried on 15 Dec 1997 at St. Boniface Catholic Cemetery, Charter Oak, Crawford Co., IA. She was ill with Rheumatic Fever when she was young. This damaged her heart valves. She also had the beginnings of Congestive Heart Failure. She died during surgery to repair her leaking valves.

A mass of Christian Burial for Francis A. Adams was held Tuesday, December 10, 1985 at 10:30 A.M. at the St. Mary Catholic Church in Dow City. Interment was in the St. Boniface Catholic Cemetery in Charter Oak. Father John Vakulskas, Jr. was celebrant for the Mass and officiated at the grave side services. Mrs. Eve Vonne Muff served as organist for the services with Mr. Dennis Neppl serving as soloist. Hymns for the services included "Amazing Grace" and "How Great Thou Art." A Wake Service was held the evening before the Mass at the funeral home.
Serving as pall bearers for the services ere Claire Prokop, Edgar Blume, Robert Brasel, Charles Green, Merlyn Schnoor, and Robert Olsen. Funeral arrangements were made under the direction of the Huebner Funeral Home of Denison.
Frank A. Adams was born March 29, 1919 near Denison, the son of Rudolph and Winifred Kessler. He died Friday morning, Dec. 6 at the Immanuel Lutheran Hospital in Omaha at the age of 66.
Frank spent his formative years on his family's farm in Crawford County. He was baptized at the St. Boniface Catholic Church in Charter Oak. He received his formal education in the rural schools near his home and later the St. Boniface Catholic Schools in Charter Oak.
Frank was united in marriage to Burdette Malcom June 17, 1939 in Danbury by Father Arnderfer. Together they made their early homes on farms near Danbury and Mapleton. In 1951 they moved to a farm near Charter Oak. In 1958 they moved to Dow City where Frank operated a bar for one year. In 1959 Frank began employment with road maintenance for Crawford County. He semiretired in 1981 when he began part-time work as a security guard at Dubuque Packing Company in Denison. In July of this year Frank entered the hospital for treatment of cancer. Since that time her has been hospitalized several times, entering Immanuel Lutheran Hospital in Omaha Nov. 26.
Frank served as mayor of Arion for nine years and served on the Arion town council for a number of years. He was also a member of the Arion Booster Club and was an active hunter and fisherman.
In addition to his parents, Frank was preceded in death by three brothers, Vincent, Clarence and Wayne.
Survivors include his wife Burdette of Arion; one son Jerry and wife Shelia of Sheboygan, WIs., and four daughters, Jolayne (Mrs. Neal) Scott of Omaha, Colleen (Mrs. Darrell) Watkins of St. Louis, Doris Adams Cubias and husband Esteban of Seattle, and Diane (Mrs. Rick) Conrad of Sioux City. He is further survived by two grandsons, Jerry and Tom, and seven granddaughters, Jodi, Susan, Kristine, Cindi, Alissa, Kari and Leah; one brother, Paul Adams of Portland, Ore. and two sisters, Regina (Mrs. Willard) Olson of Galva, and Rosemary (Mrs. Vinton) Sharp of Dow City, as well as a host of other relatives as friends.
