It's easier than retyping this in hundreds of emails I receive about my family file or in the postings I do online!! When I began working on my Maxey line, I found a huge amount of research had been done. Edythe Maxey Clark's book, The Maxeys of Virginia, is the basis of much posted online. When I realized that almost every Maxey surnamed person in the Americas is descended from the same couple, Edward and Susannah Maxey, the obsession to link everyone's Maxey research into one massive online database began. SO... I've been liberally adding Maxey lines I've found in books, articles, records, and online. I'm trying to note in my source data all contributors. Therefore, you might not see an original document cited, but rather the name of the researcher who sent it to me or from whom I took it from an online database. When I've found a Maxey line that isn't "linked" to the main family, it's posted and will lead you back to a Maxey ancestor affectionately named "Unconnected Maxey". That just means I've not figured out how that line connects yet.... but it does, and I someday hope to! My hobby is creating a master Maxey datafile on the internet which is posted on Rootsweb Worldconnect at: http://worldconnect.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=GET&db=maxey&id=I000007 (Note: Maxey is my paternal line, and while I spend most of my time working on descendant lines in the Maxey family, this file has my maternal lines. Please remember not to get confused and think just because you find some family on my website, that all are connected to the Maxey family!!) I would like to add any information you have on any Maxey family line descendants to the file. I accept information in ANY format. I type all data into my file so that I can note sources and other comments. I give full credit to every entry submitted by another researcher. Please remember, that all data will be posted ONLINE. If there is info you wish to share that is NOT to go online, point that out clearly. Conflicting data: Luckily, my data program, Family Tree Maker, lets me note differing dates and places for an event. Therefore, you might find a person in here with five birth dates. I don't know which is correct, usually. I try to move what appears to be the correct one to the first position. If something is sourced and there are conflicting dates or places, I'm trying diligently to put the source. However, I'm usually leaving the conflicting data with it's contributor and source unless it is definitely incorrect. When there are obvious inconsistencies, I'm trying to add a note to that effect. Yes, for you fact checkers, there are people who's birth dates and death dates don't make obvious sense. For example, there is the obviously wrong dates of Edward Maxey Sr. born in 1674 with a son, Edward Jr. born 1681. I found two files with these two dates. I have no clue which is correct, and I've posted both rather than neither. Any information to add on the descendants in this family line would be greatly appreciated.
