EDGAR BABEL PASSES
Mr. Edgar Babel, son of Mr. and Mrs. A. Babel, was born in Seguin during the Civil War, March 8, 1863. He received his early training in the Seguin Schools, his father being a music teacher in Seguin for many years.
On December 25, 1883, he was married to Pauline Schuchardt by the Rev. Kypfer. During the first five years of their married life they lived in Houston and San Antonio. In 1888, they returned to this community and lived in Guadalupe County ever since. Their marriage was blessed with three children: two daughters, Alma, Mrs. Bodo Dietert, and Nathalia, Mrs. Robert Harborth, both of Rt. 1, New Braunfels, and one son, Elthor, of Rt. 1, Seguin.
Mr. Babel's health began to fail about five months ago, and for the past three weeks he had been confined to his bed. He died in his home near Cordova, Monday morning, March29th, at the age of 80 years and 21 days. He leaves to mourn him, his aged helpmate; the three children mentioned above; 20 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; one son-in-law, Bodo Dietert; one daughter-in-law, Mrs. Elthor Babel; one sister, Mrs. Sarah Kneupper of Kendalia, Texas, two sisters-in-law, Mrs. Nina Babel of New Braunfels and Mrs. Lizzie Bartholomae of Seguin.
The funeral service was conducted Tuesday afternoon by Rev. E. F. Schuessler from the Goetz Funeral Home and interment was made in the family cemetery at Cordova.
The Enterprise extends deepest sympathy to the bereaved relatives.
