William came from England to Dorchester, Mass. then to New Haven. His father
was called back to England & he & his brothers were left with a servant, Henry
Gibbons. Later town authorities took them & put them under the care of Sergt.
Thomas Jeffrey & wife, who raised them. About 1667, he moved to West Haven.
He & Elizabeth joined 1st Church in New Haven 28 Apr 1686. Trowbridge Family
p 1855 says he died 1690. New Haven Probate Records, Vol. 2, p. 100; Vol. 4,
pp 275, 279, inventory of William, name children & ages.
