Elijah died of measles & pneumonia on the way home from the Civil War. In Nov
1857, Elijah & his brother Eli bought some things from Charles Riddle estate
sale. They lived 5 miles West of Dexter. In 1860, William Fields (the Book
sisters grandfather) lived with them. He was also brother of Christian, who
married Mathew Johnson Norman (#40c8). In Stoddard Co., Land Records Book C
page 270, 3 Jul 1849 Elijah bought from Fannie Norman 40 acres. Elijah joined
Mo Inf Regt 13 Mar 1862; transferred to Guibor's Mo Battery 6 Sep 1862.
