Irvin Gustus was known as "Gus."
Kathleen Hamilton Jones and William K. Hamilton, Jr. both remember bei ng taken to dinner at Uncle Gus' house in Platteville in the early 1930 s. They remember the dining room table was a huge plank of wood around wh ich the family sat. The children sat at a separate table. My aunt rememb ers the room being lit by lanterns.

"Gus Markley of Platteville dies on Friday: Gus Markley, 68, lifelong re sident of Platteville died Friday night at Weld County General Hospita l. He had been a patient there since November 30 and had been ill the pa st month. Markley farmed for many years and later was superintendent of t he Kuner Pickle Factory. He retired 8 years ago.
He was born Aug. 21, 1886 at Platteville. Surviving are his wife, Mr s. Katie Markley, 5 daughters - Mrs. Grace Hays of Pueblo; Mrs. Mildred Ri chardson of Platteville; Mrs. Ruth Kendrick of Greeley; Mrs. Leona Sowe ll of Cheyenne; and Mrs. Bernice Walso of La Salle.
Also surviving are a sister, Mrs. Annie Boyd of Ca; 4 brothers, Ira a nd Joe Markley, both of Delta; Frank of Greeley, and Mack of Westminste r; 10 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at two o'clock Tuesday afternoon from t he Platteville Methodist Church with interment at Mizpah Cemetery."
